Pieve al Toppo
L'antichissima Pieve con annesso ospedale per i pellegrini, di cui
si ha notizia già nel 938, sorgeva all'incontro tra la Via Cassia per
Chiusi e la vecchia strada per Siena, in un punto dove era possibile passare
via terra evitando la palude della Chiana. Distrutta intorno al 1500 da
eventi bellici vi fu ricostruito un Oratorio, tuttora esistente, dedicato
alla Madonna del Conforto.
Tuori
Piccolo castello con chiesa parrocchiale, situato in collina in posizione
dominante rispetto alla viabilità che collega Arezzo con Civitella, ha
svolto funzioni di presidio militare della città di Arezzo. Delle fortificazioni
originarie rimangono poche tracce, di cui la più consistente è quella
del vecchio Cassero, costruito dagli aretini nel XIV sec., oggi incorporato
in un edificio semiabbandonato. La chiesa dei SS. Giorgio e Lucia, di
origine duecentesca, ha subito vari rimaneggiamenti successivi. |
Pieve al Toppo
The ancient Pieve with the attached hospital for pilgrims, about wich
there is an early record dated 938, stood at the crossroad between Via
Cassia towards Chiusi and the old road towards Siena, in a place where
it was possible to pass overland avoiding the Chiana marsh. It was destroyed
around 1500 during a war and an Oratory was built in its place, as we
can still see, dedicated to 'Madonna del Conforto'.
Tuori
A small castle with a parish church, situated in the hills in a dominant
position as to roads which link Arezzo to Civitella, has carried out functions
of military protection for the town of Arezzo. Only a few traces are left
of the first defences, of which the most substantial is the one of the
old Cassero, on a quadrangular plan, built by the people of Arezzo in
the 14th century. Next to the portal, you can see a sacred tabernacle
dated 1891. The church of SS. Giorgio and Lucia, with origin in the 2nd
century, underwent various, successive restructuring. Near Tuori, at Sasso
saracino, stands a beautiful farmhouse built in the 16th century by Fraternità
deo Laici di Arezzo. |
